Summer League Wrap-up

The Warriors have officially ended summer league play, and to everyone's surprise it ended with a win to finish the summer league undefeated at 5-0! This only adds to the anticipation of the upcoming season. Although the summer league is filled with mostly back up players, it still offers a high level of NBA caliber competition. As a fan, what makes me the most excited is that our first 3 draft picks all played great basketball; both offensively and defensively.  Second round pick Festus Ezeli, is looking like a solid basketball player who will be able to contribute immediately with great rebounding and defense.  Our second round draft pick Draymond Green looked impressive on the court as the 6'8'' power forward was hitting three point shots with ease. He is quickly looking like the steal of the draft. Heres a quick video for those who have never had the pleasure of watching Draymond hoop. Although he lacks elite level athleticism, he is a great leader who knows how to contribute on a basketball court in every facet of the game. He may have been the most well rounded player in the entire summer league.

But the most exciting player was without a doubt our lottery pick Harrison Barnes, who already looks like he is strong and skilled enough to get major minutes when the regular season begins. Barnes was hitting shots with ease and taking good care of the basketball. He still has plenty of room to improve, but watching him play against other NBA ready players reassured many Warriors fans of whether or not he deserved to be a lottery pick. The anticipation for the regular season is begin to be palpable.

  1. Summer league or training camp is just like the appetizers for the main course. It serves up a nice taste of what we can expect for the upcoming year...and going 5-0 is a pretty respectable sneak-peak.
